Dressing the part: Modern Bohemian

“Style is a magic wand, and turns everything to gold that it touches” — Logan Pearsall Smith

I absolutely love having henna on my hands.  It makes everything I do with my hands, from mundane housework to making art, seem like it has a special power and a touch of magic.

Even drinking coffee gains a special mood when you’ve got henna hands.

My first henna was on my belly when I was pregnant.  Since then I’ve had it applied to my shoulders, chest, and hands.  Now I’m dreaming of having my feet done to stroll about the springtime grass in.

The local artist to see for those living in Portland, Oregon is Ana Warren at Blooming Lotus Henna.  Ana takes great care in preparing just the right mix for an excellent dark stain.  Essential oils are added for an aromatherapy euphoria while she applies the henna pigment to the skin. She offers a variety of styles and special event packages.

Not only is it beautiful, it is temporary.  The stain can last from a few days to a couple weeks depending where it is placed on the body and how it is cared for. Traditionally it is used to celebrate transitions in a woman’s life phases, but why keep to just tradition?
