Painting

detail of "La Catrina" a skeleton woman in a large hat with flowers for hair.

My interest in the figure comes from a zeal for art history. I am interested in how we see ourselves, create our own myths and the representation of these stories. Drawing from psychoanalytic theory, mythology, and symbolism, my painted works are both portraiture and allegory. These archetypal subjects document real people and life stories, spurring questions about identity, culture, and meaning.
