Deenie Wallace’s Anima Pantheonia Opening Reception at PNCA Gallery 214
Portland, Oregon, October 1, 2012– In November 2012, PNCA’s Gallery 214 will feature paintings by alumna Deenie Wallace, from the series Anima Pantheonia. There will be a First Thursday opening reception on November 1st from 6pm to 8pm. The show runs through November 28, 2012.
Anima Pantheonia is a series of allegorical portraits that explore the relationship between the sitters’ personal identity with female archetypes. Deenie Wallace layers her vibrant palette with subtle color shifts to enhance the otherworldliness of the imagery and soften the initial appearance of the occasionally macabre subject matter. Drawing from psychoanalytic theory, mythology, and symbolism, archetypal figures appearing in the work include Mary Magdalene, La Catrina, and Tlazolteotl.
Gallery 214 is located within Pacific Northwest College of Art at 1241 Northwest Johnson Street in Portland, OR. The gallery is open 9 am – 10 pm Mon-Sun. For more information please inquire at art@deeniewallace.com.
